You can usually find the closed caption settings in the bottom right or left corner of the video player you're viewing a show, movie or event through.
This will vary, however, based on the provider you're viewing the content through. In some cases you may even find the closed caption controls at the top of the video player.
Closed captions in Channels section
- After selecting a channel from one of the Channels sections, note that you will need to wait for that actual show or movie to start playing before the close caption (CC) option will appear in the bottom right corner of the video player.
- Once the actual show or movie starts playing and dialogue gets underway, you should then see the CC setting. Just click on that button to pull up the closed caption menu.
- You can also update the closed caption settings by selecting the Settings menu in the bottom right corner.
Closed captions for On-Demand content
- Whether you're watching a movie or show through a paid streaming service like Netfllix or Hulu, or through a free service like Crackle or Tubi, you should see the closed caption controls in the bottom left or right corner of the video player, usually just below the scroll bar.
- One exception to this is Prime Video, as this provider actually includes its closed caption settings in the top right of the video player.
Closed captions on Roku
- If you're using the FreeCast app on Roku, note that the closed captions will need to be updated directly in Roku's settings.
To enable closed captions on Roku:
- From the Roku Home screen, scroll down and select Settings.
- Choose Accessibility from the Settings menu > Then scroll over to the right and select Captions Mode.
- Choose the option for On always.
- Once the captions are enabled, they should appears when viewing content on FreeCast.
